TAP5 GUIDE

Do NFC Review Cards Work With iPhone and Android?

Tap5 NFC review cards work with most modern NFC-enabled smartphones, but compatibility depends on the device, settings, physical distance and internet access.

What happens when someone taps?

NFC is a short-range technology. When a compatible phone detects the tag, it can open the web address stored for the interaction. For a review card, that means the Google review page opens in the phone’s browser; the customer still decides whether to continue. No app is required for the basic web flow where the phone supports NFC and has internet access.

Where should customers tap?

The NFC reader position varies by phone. As a general guide, customers can try the upper or central back of the phone and move it slowly across the card for a moment. A thick case, metal surface or too much distance can reduce detection.

iPhone and Android considerations

Most modern iPhone and Android phones include NFC capability, but older devices differ and some settings or lock states can affect detection. A customer may need to unlock the phone, enable a relevant setting or use a QR fallback. Avoid promising that every smartphone will work.

If a tap is not detected

Ask the customer to remove the phone from a very thick case, move the top or centre back slowly over the tag and check that the phone is unlocked. Check internet access and try a QR option if one is available. Staff can also test the card with a compatible phone before placing it.

How Tap5 is configured

Tap5 uses your business name and location to identify the correct Google listing, prepares the NFC tap and printed QR for the same business location and tests the destination before dispatch. Read the NFC Google Review Card explainer for a high-level overview or compare NFC and QR for placement decisions.
